Mathematics in a Montessori Classroom

The study of numbers, quantities, shapes, and measurements.

We teachers can only help the work going on, as servants wait upon a master. – Dr. Maria Montessori

Math is the study of numbers, quantities, shapes, and measurements and how they relate to one another. The child explores these concepts through the use of hands-on materials. It consists of exploring with the senses as children learn primarily through exploring with their hands, manipulating materials, and using their senses to absorb information.

Math in itself is an abstract concept, so by transforming abstract concepts into concrete materials that the child can manipulate, they are able to learn those concepts at a much younger age, and have them stick with them for a long time.

Montessori math introduces children to…

Number Recognition
Symbol to Quantity

Teens and Tens

I Absolutely Love this School
A Yelp testimonial from one of our parents
“This is my daughter’s first year here and being as picky as I am, I can honestly say I have not found a better school for my 2 year-old! I absolutely LOVE this school, the staff, the teachers, and the environment they have created. I have nothing but good to say about KSMS! I highly recommend this facility!” – Jessica C.
